The seventh edition of La Rioja Bike Race presented by Pirelli is taking shape and we can advance some novelties of this year. The race, which will take place from Thursday 7 to Sunday 10 May, will maintain its essence with four stages of pure Mountain Bike of UCI XCS 2 category. However, it will include new trails but with similar characteristics. For example, in Stage 2, the area of the Zenzano Mountains will be one of the new sections.
The new route maintains the philosophy of La Rioja Bike Race, with fun trails; descents withs lots of flow; incredible landscapes; emblematic sections; but also with some modifications that give the race an added value and opens the competition to new exceptional areas of La Rioja.
The ambassador of La Rioja Bike Race presented by Pirelli and one of the designers of the routes, Carlos Coloma, is clear: “The philosophy of the routes, the landscapes, the environment ... will be the same as in previous years. But we always like to add new trails. People who have never come before will hallucinate and those who repeat will have that incentive, that plus, in the new sectors”, explains Coloma.
The Flash Stage will continue in the same style. A short stage with departure from the Institutional Winery of La Grajera, but with funnier up and down sectors, surrounded by vineyards.
Stage 2 will be long and fast. It will be a rolling stage with enough track to stretch the group before the narrow trails. As a novelty, riders will climb the Mount of Zenzano that will offer a spectacular panoramic view of the entire Ebro valley.
The Nissan Navara Super Stage, the queen stage, will be the toughest and the most technical of all. It will pass through the typical area of Monte de Clavijo and Nalda, but with unpublished sections in La Rioja Bike Race presented by Pirelli.
The fourth and last one, the Finisher Stage, will be more dynamic, passing through closed forests, and with two new downhill trails that will delight all participants.
Many new features in the route, keeping the essence that makes La Rioja Bike Race presented by Pirelli one of the most attractive MTB competition in Spain, with nearly 1.000 registered participants every year.
The official route of La Rioja Bike Race presented by Pirelli 2020 will be official shortly.
Hurry up because on Sunday, 2 February, the registration price increases to 299€. So far, there are about 500 participants registered and the price is still 199€. You should bear in mind that registrations will increase their cost according to the registered participants and once we reach 1.000 bikers, they will be totally closed.
